    Embedded in this fascinating countryside and close to the old village of Scansano, you will be the guest of the four star Resort Antico Casale di Scansano, which emerged from the restoration of an ancient Maremma farm.
   Located in the Maremma region, in the southern part of Tuscany,  which alternates charming vineyards and silvery olive tree cultivations with endless, wild, polychromatic hills. Here, in the heart of the Etruscan culture, you will find ancient villages like Rocchetta di Fazio, Sovana and Pitigliano and medieval castles in dominant positions, built on steep rocks to defend the surrounding territory from Saracen attack, remind of the dense historical background of this area.
    The property includes meadows and woodlands, a well-equipped stableyard with excellent horses and qualified multilingual instructors, where guests can choose to ride out or take lessons in the riding school . Then come back and enjoy the  swimming pool to relax in the mild Maremma climate.
     Discover the secrets of Maremman cuisine (the Resort offers also cookery course to learn to prepare homemade pasta, meat dishes and typical sweets), while enjoying an unforgettable horse- back riding adventure.
      Different spaces are dedicated to the relaxation and  entertainment of the guests, a wide drawing-room with comfortable, provincial furnishings, a cozy room with a fireplace to relax or to join friends for a cocktail, a shop offering apparel for horseback riding and, and  a patio from which you will be able to admire the surrounding sweet hills of the fen.
     The 32 hotel rooms are tastefully furnished and comfortable: ensuite bathroom, refrigerator/bar, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, telephone, satellite TV, air-conditioning.13 of these are double rooms with a balcony, to enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside, and there are 4 suites with double bedroom, living-room with balcony, fireplace and jacuzzi bath.
     The Farmhouse apartments are ideal for longer stays or for a sense of country living .They have a large living area with fireplace, kitchenette, dishwasher and stove. They can sleep 2 in a  double bedroom and have a bathroom on an upper floor with jacuzzi bath, outside portico, satellite TV, telephone, hairdryer.     
       For those who prefer the outdoor life, there is the beautiful VITAE route, by mountain bike or on horseback for delightful rides in the beautiful and peaceful countryside.
       During your  stay you can also attend a cookery course which includes three days of cooking practice and tastings, alternated with other activities offered by the Antico Casale on the other days, according to your personal choice. You will learn to cook local mushrooms , Mediterranean vegetables, chick pea or bean soups as well as the tasty traditional acqua cotta. Moreover, the Casale kitchen will also reveal the secret of its own Zuppa del Casale. You may alternate your cooking lessons with your other activities for a full taste of Tuscan life.
