       Known as the “Golden Island”, the Isle of Grado and its Thalasso Therapeutic Center,
is a favored location , due to its closeness to Venice, Aquileia, Palmanova, Udine, Cividale, Gorizia and Trieste .
       The Isle of Grado was the first landing place for Julius Caesar’s ships, keeping the links to the legions staying at Aquileia alive. Thanks to its strong appeal of marine and lagoon landscapes as well as its micro-climate it’s a pleasure to live and visit there even in Winter.
       The richness of the sea water’s elements low in mineral content, the sand, the sun, the climate and its splendid lagoon, made it, with time, one of the most famous destinations for bathing and thermal cures (thalasso therapy).
      The Grand Hotel Astoria was built at the beginning of the 20th century, when Grado was the Habsburgers’ and Middle European aristocracy’s Summer resort, with the name of Hotel Lido. The Hotel knew glory and smartness as the seat of the local casino. It was completely rebuilt and reopened in 1991, continuing its role of a hotel with style, quality and elegance, like an island on the island, for its completeness and quality of its services.
     The Hotel is situated in the historical Roman centre and a few meters from the seaside. There are 120 rooms, some are Suites and others Junior Suites. All are soundproof, with individual air conditioning/heating, direct phone lines, minibar, satellite color television, direct connection to internet. Garage. Conference center.
     Besides our classic restaurant there is also a panoramic bar-restaurant on the 7th floor with seaview, the inn ”al Gial” where you can have a taste of exquisite wines and the typical products of Friuli’s cuisine. And for your evening pleasure enjoy the Elegant piano bar.
     A swimming pool with panoramic view and a wide terrace-solarium are at disposal on the 7th floor. The indoor swimming pool has a waterfall and hydromassage on the entresol. Both pools filled with heated sea water pumped 100 m from the coast.
Thalasso Therapeutic Center: Situated on the 7th floor it offers courses of hydrothermal cures with medical assistance and highly specialized staff. The Centre utilizes the therapeutical properties of sea water for inhalations, Caracalla baths, butterfly bath, sea grotto, panthermal, swimming pools, but also massages and cosmetic care.
    Our Health Centre offers specially the following treatments:
Thermal baths: In Caracalla-bath, ideal for treatment of rheumatic diseases, troubles of blood circulation and skin. The Butterfly-bath, provided with heaving system with air bubbles, allows us to operate with posttraumatic and post-operation rehabilitation as well as troubles of blood circulation thank manual hydropneumo-massage. This bath can be used by disabled, too.
Thermal swimming pool:With heated sea water, ideal for post-traumatic and post-operation rehabilitation as well as aqua gym courses.
Physiotherapy: For rheumatic and neurological diseases, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis.
Inhalations:With sea water steam for chronic diseases of respiratory organs.
Turkish bath.
